Product update: Zendrive Score Revamp

The Zendrive Score just received its largest makeover to date. We designed the new version to be simpler and easier to understand, providing the right kind of actionable insight into driver behavior that fleet managers need.

Zendrive score has been around for a few years and has seen a lot of use. But it hadn’t ever been changed before. We spoke with customers about how they use the Zendrive Score, what they liked and didn’t like about it, and how it helps them manage safety in their businesses.

With that information, we went back to the drawing board to come up with the best possible version 2. In this process of designing the new score, we focused on making it as Understandable and Actionable as possible. Here’s how we tackled it:

  1. Understandable – This was based on a clear need from customers to be able to quickly understand what they are seeing at at a glance. Our fleet management customers are busy people running commercial fleets who don’t have time to learn a complex system. 
  2. Actionable – Customers also said they wanted to be able to see as directly as possible what their drivers could do differently to improve their scores. We wanted the score to intuitively convey a path to better, safer driving.

This is what we came up with:

Now, the Zendrive Score shows users at a glance how drivers perform on a 0-100 scale.

The dashboard also displays four Event Ratings that drive this overall score: hard braking, aggressive acceleration, excessive speeding, and risky phone use. These four are rated A through F like school grades.

Together, the Zendrive Score and the Event Ratings form a complete picture of a driver’s safety.

The overall Zendrive Score represents an aggregation of the risk factors within a driver’s control.

Zendrive calculates a grade for each dangerous driving event. In the Zendrive Dashboard, these grades show up as letters A-F.

Your riskiest drivers cost more than you may think. But the Zendrive Score gives you the tools to turn the situation around.
