Wharton Business School Interview With Zendrive’s Co-Founder And CEO, Jonathan Matus

Zendrive CEO Jonathan Matus joined the hosts of Bay Area Ventures on Sirius XM’s Business Radio Powered by the Wharton School on Monday, July 24th to discuss his long history in Silicon Valley, his journey from mobile guru to visionary safety entrepreneur, and how Zendrive is helping make the world a smarter – and safer – place for drivers and businesses alike.

As Jonathan explains to Business Radio hosts Doug Collom and Irina Yuen, he was struck by the sheer volume of preventable traffic deaths that occur on American roads each year – over 40,000 in 2016. Jonathan saw a compelling opportunity to use data and analytics to save tens of thousands of lives, while also adding tremendous value to transportation businesses, government agencies, and insurance companies. He strived to harness the power of drivers’ smartphones to correct dangerous behaviors like speeding, sudden acceleration, hard braking, aggressive cornering, and distracted phone use. He then put these tools in the hands of fleet managers to multiply their positive impact across thousands of contracted drivers, and Zendrive was born.
